AI Writing Tools to Help Improve Your Writing

Anyone who has ever written anything knows the anxiety and uncertainty of staring at a blank page. Even professional writers who have been writing for decades still find the task difficult, especially under the pressure of deadlines. However, writing is not just a concern for authors. Office workers constantly need to produce reports, emails, social media content, newsletters, and more. And each time, they are faced with the same question: "Where should I begin?"

I, too, often find myself staring blankly at a page before starting to write. Just thinking about the complicated process, from research and brainstorming to drafting and editing, can feel overwhelming. For busy professionals, this process can become an even greater burden. Sometimes, I think, "How great would it be if someone could draft this for me?" or "I wish there was someone capable of expressing my ideas clearly..."

Fortunately, that wish has now become a reality, thanks to the advent of generative AI. AI, particularly large language models (LLM), can generate text with a rich vocabulary and sentence structure, much like a seasoned author. AI tools such as ChatGPT and Claude have already become writing partners for many students and professionals, and their capabilities are improving day by day. We are now in an era where high-quality writing can be generated in minutes, without the need to spend sleepless nights working on complicated reports or assignments.

In this content, I will introduce various AI tools and services that can enhance your writing abilities and reduce the burden of writing. While conversational AI like ChatGPT is useful for basic writing assistance, many specialized AI tools are now available to help with specific types of writing. Whether it's blog posts, copywriting, news articles, or social media content, try out these AI tools tailored to different purposes, and find the ones that suit your style. By the way, the introduction part of the article you just read was written using an AI writing tool.

[#1] AI Writing Tool for Marketers : Jasper AI

In a time when producing effective marketing content has become more important than ever, Jasper AI stands out as a comprehensive AI marketing tool designed for marketers and marketing agencies. What started as a writing AI service has now evolved to focus on features specialized in marketing content.

Jasper AI offers an intuitive user interface and supports a wide range of content, including blog posts, website content, social media posts, emails, and even video scripts. While it is not yet widely known in Korea, Jasper was one of the first AI writing tools to launch globally and is especially popular in North America.

Jasper AI offers over 50 AI templates that help marketers create consistent strategies. For example, it can easily meet various marketing needs like product descriptions, Facebook ads, and press releases, allowing users to save time and improve productivity. Jasper is more than just an AI tool; it can be seen as a solution for managing overall marketing campaigns.

However, Jasper AI is not free, and its pricing is relatively expensive compared to other AI writing tools. Although a 14% discount is offered for annual subscriptions, the lowest subscription tier, Creator, starts at $49 per month, which is higher than competitors like WriteSonic ($12), Rytr ($7.5), and Copy.ai ($36). This can be burdensome for small businesses or marketing teams with limited budgets. If your focus is on SEO or blog content, other AI writing tools that are more specialized in text-based content (like Rytr or WriteSonic) may be more efficient.

Pros

  • SEO Optimization Support : Integrates with SurferSEO for SEO analysis and optimization
  • Brand Voice Learning : Maintains consistent tone and style tailored to each brand’s identity
  • 100% Plagiarism-Free Content : Generates unique content using AI
  • Custom AI Image Generation : Includes an image creation feature to produce images that align with the text

Cons

  • Expensive Pricing : More expensive compared to AI writing tools like Rytr and WriteSonic
  • Limited Free Trial : A 7-day free trial is offered, but only after credit card registratio

[#2] AI Writing Tool for Work : Rytr

While Jasper is specialized in marketing content creation, Rytr supports a wide range of writing tasks, making it a versatile AI writing tool for work. Acting like a personal writing assistant, Rytr is highly useful for everyday writing tasks.

Rytr provides AI writing functions optimized for individual users and is both affordable and easy to use. Its low subscription fee (less than $10 per month) is a major advantage. Rytr can generate various types of content such as social media posts, blogs, emails, and product descriptions, offering over 40 use cases. For those running e-commerce businesses, Rytr can simplify tasks such as writing customer emails, newsletters, product storytelling, and ad copy.

One of Rytr’s standout features is that it offers over 20 Voice Tones, allowing users to maintain a consistent tone. Additionally, the content generated can be edited and customized to meet specific needs, making it easy to produce content tailored to individual preferences.

Rytr seems best suited as an AI tool for personal use rather than for entire teams. While it may not have strong specialization in a specific area, its versatility in handling various everyday tasks is its biggest strength.

Pros

  • Supports Various Voice Tones : Offers more than 20 voice tone options
  • Excellent Browser Accessibility : Available through a Chrome extension for immediate use
  • Generous Free Plan : Provides a free plan with a 10,000-character limit, making most tasks doable for free

Cons

  • Limited Templates : Fewer templates and features compared to premium services like Jasper AI and ShortlyAI
  • Limited Korean Language Support : For Korean content, it’s best to use Rytr for drafting, then refine the work using ChatGPT

[#3] AI Writing Tools Proficient in Korean : Wrtn, Orwell, Promry

The two AI writing tools introduced so far are more powerful for English writing, but their capabilities for Korean language generation are somewhat lacking. Despite this, I introduced them because writing in English with these tools and then translating into Korean using tools like ChatGPT or DeepL can sometimes be more effective than directly using ChatGPT or Claude for specific writing purposes. However, if you are looking for AI writing tools optimized for Korean language, the following AI tools would be better suited for your needs.

Wrtn

Wrtn is a Korean AI platform supporting AI search, image generation, and various other tasks. It’s especially useful for blog writing and report creation.

The blog writing feature offers categories such as 'review', 'information', and 'daily', and allows for customizable tones, including casual, formal, and conversational styles. Additionally, it can incorporate the latest information based on internet search results.

Meanwhile, the report creation feature allows users to upload reference materials (pdf, docx, hwp, txt, url) and input a simple description, generating the desired report within about 20 minutes. During the process, users can add specific instructions or make adjustments to complete the report in their preferred style.

The plagiarism checker results of a philosophy report generated with Wrtn show a 0% plagiarism rate.

Orwell

Orwell is a style-changing AI service provided by Bluedot AI (Mediasphere). Rather than generating text, Orwell focuses on adjusting the style of existing content. As a result, it’s particularly useful after generating content with another AI tool and then needing to refine the writing style.

Currently available as a beta service, Orwell is unique in that it integrates not only GPT and Claude but also Korean language models such as Naver’s HyperClova and Kakao Brain’s Ko-GPT-2.0. This allows it to smooth out awkward English-sounding phrases in AI-generated Korean content.

I primarily use Orwell for company-related articles and newsletters. By inputting relevant materials and specifying conditions (such as style and target audience), the output feels like it was written by a professional journalist.

Writing news articles can be challenging, especially for those unfamiliar with the standard format and structure. In that regard, Orwell is an incredibly attractive AI writing tool.

Promry

Promry is an AI service launched in March 2024, supporting the creation of various work-related content such as blogs, reports, business plans, and cover letters. One of Promry's key features is its ability to support a wider range of writing contexts than the previously introduced services.

Promry is especially user-friendly, with clear usage guides that make it easy for beginners to get started with AI tools. It also offers a variety of AI prompts tailored to specific writing situations, which is particularly helpful for novices. While the quality of the generated content can be somewhat inconsistent, with enough input and the appropriate prompts, it is a useful tool for producing drafts that go beyond initial expectations.

[TIP] Tips for Creating Compelling Writing

By using the AI writing tools introduced above, you can craft higher-quality content than you would with a basic conversational AI. Here’s an additional tip that can be especially useful when specifying tone or style while using AI writing tools. If you want to apply a particular style or pattern from other well-written pieces, this method can greatly enhance your output.

Even if you're only using a conversational AI like ChatGPT or Claude, this tip can help you achieve more effective writing (as the default outputs from tools like ChatGPT often tend to feel a bit bland).

The key tip is to ask the AI to analyze a well-written piece. For example, let’s ask ChatGPT to analyze the first tech blog post from Enhancv (this is just a simple example—you can try this with any piece of writing you consider good).

Now, based on this analysis, let’s attempt to write a new piece with a similar style. For example, imagine we’re writing an introduction to 'Nominal GDP' and 'Real GDP' instead of the original blog post’s topic on 'Prompt Engineering'. By comparing a request for a simple write-up with one that asks the AI to apply an analyzed style, we can see the difference.

The results are split into two: the left side (general output) and the right side (analyzed style applied). As you can see, the left side feels a bit like an encyclopedia entry, while the right side, despite covering the same subject matter, is written in a more engaging, conversational style with real-life examples that make it more approachable.

Of course, this kind of change can also be achieved through the use of prompts, but if you want to fine-tune the tone and style to a more specific degree, asking the AI to analyze a reference piece and then write in a similar manner is a great method. (This is especially helpful when you want to emulate the style of a particular author or professional organization.) Style improvements like these are particularly effective in opinion columns writing, where personal color and distinctiveness matter.
